Origin of the Corporation

The year 1981 was declared as the International Year of the Disabled and hence the Government decided to establish a finance corporation for the welfare of disabled persons and accordingly established “The A.P. Handicapped Persons Welfare Cooperative Finance Corporation” with head quarters at Hyderabad vide G.O.Ms.No.35, Social Welfare (G1) Dept, dated. 23-03-1981. Later the name of the Corporation was changed to “A. P. Vikalangula Cooperative Corporation”.


The main objectives of the Corporation are to implement the following Schemes for the benefit of disabled in the State

  • Supply of Prosthetic and Mobility Aids
  • Supply of Educational Aids
  • To impart training in various Technical & Non Technical trades
  • Sanction of NHFDC Loans under Self Employment Schemes
  • Supply of Aids & Appliances under ADIP Scheme of Government of India
Supply of Prosthetic & Mobility Aids

The Corporation provides Prosthetic Aids (i.e. Hearing Aids, Calipers & Artificial Limbs) and also Mobility Aids (i.e. Tricycles, Wheel Chairs, Crutches & Walking Sticks) to the Persons with Disabilities (PwDs)

Supply of Educational Aids

The Corporation provides Laptops & MP3 players to the Visually Handicapped students who are studying professional courses/P.G.Courses. Motorized vehicles are also provided to orthopedically handicapped students on 50% subsidy not exceeding Rs.30,000/- and the remaining 50% cost on Bank loan basis

Training Programme

The Corporation provides coaching to the PwDs in ITI & Non ITI trades at Visakhapatnam

The A.P.Vikalangula Co-operative Corporation also imparts training programme for skill development and placement and special coaching to the PwDs. The training programmes are taken up with the training partners approved by the Employment Generation Mission and other Sub-missions under Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu

Special Coaching is imparted and coaching material is supplied to the PwDs who are studying professional/P.G.Courses

State Channelising Agency for NHFDC

APVCC is identified by the National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) as state channelizing agency for extending loans to PwDs for entrepreneurship development and setting up of self employment units. The NHFDC extends loan at low interest rates viz., 4% to 6% per annum repayable in 5 to 7 years

ADIP scheme (Assistance to Disabled for Purchase/ Fitting of Aids/ Appliances)

Government of India provides Grant-in-Aid for supply of Aids/Appliances to disabled under the ADIP scheme. APVCC is the Programme Implementation Agency for implementation of the scheme in the state of Andhra Pradesh
