Avoid consanguineous marriages – a main cause for disability.
Low birth weight increases the risk of coronary heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and stroke in adulthood.
Ensure proper nutrition to children during their first two years to prevent the irreparable, lifelong harm that results from early childhood under nutrition
Preventing infants and young children from becoming undernourished is much more effective than treating children who are already moderately malnourished.

No.162 /A1-Awards/2013 Dt. 10.01.2013

 

           The Government of India, Ministry of Women and Child Department has instituted an Award called the “Rajiv Gandhi Manava Seva Award for Service to Children” for the year 2012 & 2013 to give recognition to three individuals, who makes outstanding contribution towards service for children for over 10 years, in the field of (i) Child Development, (ii) Child Protection and (iii) Child Welfare. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 1 Lakh (Rupees One Lakh Only) and a citation to each awardee.

            Nominations are invited from suitable individuals, who have worked for the cause of children for over a period of 10 years. The Nominations should be clearly supported by documentary evidence of the work done and the source of funds for carrying-out the activities. The applicant should also furnish his/her life-sketch along with the details of performance including locations / field of performance, the number of children covered etc., The sole basis of selection will be quality of work performed by the individual for the case of the Children and its significance for the cause. Paid Officers of Institutions will not be eligible for selection. The applications should be submitted through the Project Director, DW&CDA (WD & CW Department) of District concerned.

           The application in the format should be submitted through the concerned Project Director of Dist. Women & Child Dev. Agencies or directly in the office of the Commissioner, Women Development & Child Welfare Department, D.No.8-3-222, Vengalrao Nagar, Ameerpet, Hyderabad – 500 038 by 10.04.2013. Belated applications will not be considered.
